Zefina H. Baugh STAUNTON

Ruby Zefina (Houff) Baugh, 88, widow of Raymond Warren Baugh, of Preston Drive, Staunton, died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at her residence.

She was born October 27, 1920, in Churchville, a daughter of the late Elbert Casper and Bessie Pearl (Meyerhoffer) Houff.

Prior to retirement, Mrs. Baugh was a Lady's Fashion Buyer and Department Manager for many years at Southern Department Store and Joseph Ney's.

She was a member of Staunton Church of the Brethren

Zefina was a loving mother and was very proud of her family and most proud to have five generations.

In addition to her husband, who died December 16, 2000, and her parents, she was also preceded in death by three sons, Fred M. DePriest, Roger C. DePriest, and Carl W. DePriest; three brothers, Sylvan Houff, Mervin F. Houff Sr. and Elbert Casper Houff Jr.; and three sisters, Pearl Hendrix, Thelma Drumheller and Wilma Bowman.

Family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Vance Leland Brydge of Lyndhurst; a son, Donald R. DePriest of Reno, Nevada; two brothers, Rollo Houff and his wife, Shirley, of Staunton and Rufus Houff and his friend, Georgiana, of Roanoke; a number of grandchildren including Kyle Brydge and his wife, Kim, Lynette C. Brydge, and Dennis Satterfield; a number of great- grandchildren including Michael Brydge and his wife, Jessica, Kristin Fitzgerald and her husband, Johnny, Amber Brown, Justin Gray, Kristopher Brydge, and Summer Brydge; great, great-grandchildren, Wesley, Neveah, Ciara, Devin and Dylan; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the Henry Funeral Home chapel by her nephew, the Reverend Doctor D. Michael Houff of Salem. Burial will follow at Thornrose Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be V. Leland Brydge, Kyle Brydge, Justin Gray, Michael Brydge, Kristopher Brydge, and Dennis Satterfield.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lynette Brydge, Amber Brown, Kim Brydge, Summer Brydge, Kristin Fitzgerald, Wesley Thompson, Neveah Fitzgerald, and Ciara Fitzgerald.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at the funeral home and other times at her residence.

Memorials may be made to the Staunton/Augusta Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 2566, Staunton, VA 24402.
