What a wonderful man and Doctor. He had such a great bedside manner. I remember being in the hospital and Dr. Schrand stopping by and sitting on the bed and talking to me just like he was my dad. I was a patient of his from 1979 till he retired. He is surely missed. My condolences to his wife and family. I remember his wife working at the office and being so nice and thoughtful. I miss her also.

Dear Marilyn and family,
Please except my belated sympathy thoughts. Jim was a very special man, active in the community, serving on the Boone County Board, and working with other civic groups, plus having a large Medical practice. He dearly loved his family and very proud of them. I remember seeing him at Triple Crown Club House after finishing a round of golf, asked him about the kids. He started talking about each with a smile. Then, he turned quickly to leave shouting "my tee time".

Dr. Schrand gave me my first Airman Medical in 1967. He gave me my most recent medical exam in March of this year. He was responsible for discovering I had cancer and helped me become cancer free to this day. He always was caring and helped me with my career as an Airline Captain. Dr. Schrand (Jim) you will be missed. Steve Sturgil, Comair Airlines Ret.

Jim was a staple of my youth-as I played sports on our street he trudged off to Latin School on his way to a successful career in medicine. Jim never let his medical degree get in the way of who he was- a kind, gentle, and caring person. I shall miss you, my friend.

Dr. Schrand was my family practitioner my entire adult life until his retirement and the family doctor of both of my children and husband. I will never forget when my beloved aunt died four years ago, seeing Dr. Schrand at her funeral and talking to him. I was so touched that as many patients that he had, he was at my aunt's funeral. What a thoughtful man. I believe most of my immediate family including aunts and cousins were patients of his and loved him dearly. Many thoughts and prayers to Mrs. Schrand and her family.

Dr. Schrand attended medical school with my late husband Dr. John D. Fielding (practiced in Warsaw Kentucky-also Xavier alumni as well) and have wonderful memories of knowing Dr. Schrand. John was very fond of Jim, and often shared stories of he and Jim in school and their friendship.
He will be missed.
