Josephine McWilliams

Josephine Smith McWilliams 1919-2012 HANOVER, NH Josephine Smith McWilliams, 92, of Hanover, NH, and formerly of Woodstock, VT, died on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. She was born on December 24, 1919, the daughter of Frank and Nelle (Fitts) DeWitt Smith, in Pasadena, Calif. On June 26, 1940, she was married to John McWilliams. Soon after their wedding they moved to Pittsfield, Mass., and then Williamstown, Mass., before retiring in the Woodstock, Vt. area in 1974. Josephine was very involved in the Berkshire Garden Club and was a member of the Junior League. She was an avid needleworker. She is survived by son John McWilliams IV and wife Nancy Marshall of McClellanville, S.C.; daughter Carol Gibson and husband George Gibson of Burlington, Vt.; son David McWilliams and wife Rachel Kurland of South Strafford, Vt.; daughter Patricia McWilliams of Middletown Springs, Vt.; seven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and four nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 61 years and grandson John Julian McWilliams. Services and interment will be private.
