Janet Fairbank Obituary
A funeral mass will be held Friday, December 20 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church in Woodstock, VA. Father Dobbins will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock.
Janet was born August 27, 1941 in Teaneck, New Jersey, daughter of the late Robert and Gertrude Kapherr. She was a 1959 graduate of Ridgewood High School in Ridgewood, NJ. She was a 1961 graduate of Holy Name Hospital School of Nursing in Teaneck, NJ. She was a registered nurse for 45 years in NJ, MD and VA. She worked at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ, Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD and Northern Virginia Doctor's Hospital in Arlington, VA. She worked all departments in the hospitals, including Surgical Intensive Care Unit for eight years as well as the preemie nursery. She was a member of St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church serving in the CCD program and a member of the church choir. She also accepted the call to study and make her promise in the Carmelite 3rd Order.
She is survived by her husband, David whom she married on February 27, 1965 in Paramus, NJ; daughter, Julie A. Fairbank, DVM of Wilmington, NC; son, Richard S. Fairbank and wife Kelly Cerio Fairbank of Reston, VA; their son, Cody John and their daughter, Vanessa Marie; and one sister, Doris Bodkin of Little Egg Harbor, NJ.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 19 from 6-8 p.m. at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock, VA. A rosary service will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Winchester, VA or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 321. Woodstock, VA 22664.
