Mr. Dellinger was born November 16, 1948 in Shenandoah County and was a son of the late Elwood Houston Dellinger, Jr. and Evelyn Louise Price Dellinger.

After graduating from Stonewall Jackson High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Patsy Ann Showman, on April 6, 1968. Mr. Dellinger then went to work for Walker Manufacturing and recently retired in January of this year.

With a love for all things active, he was an avid hunter, fisherman, and coached little league baseball. Some of his most special moments were spent with his family.

In addition to his wife Patsy, Mr. Dellinger is survived by his sons, Neil Elwood Dellinger and wife Jennifer and their daughter Morgan of Harrisonburg and Chad Michael Dellinger and wife Tina and their children Mason and Lilly of Fulks Run; two brothers, Randy Dellinger and wife Cheryl of Lacey Spring, and Mickey Dellinger and wife Kelly of Winchester; one sister, Jerry Ann Bynacker and husband Roger of Quicksburg; nieces and nephews; and his two special dogs, Titus and Sophie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Juanita Summers; and special dog, Thor.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2011 at Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Kerry Willis officiating.

The family will receive friends for visitation and viewing on Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

Memorials may be made to The Drummer Boy Fund, c/o Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene, 1871 Boyers Road, Harrisonburg, Virginia 22801.

Patsy and family,
I was saddened to hear about Larry. I will always remember our times in school as well as the times we spent together after graduation. Larry was always full of life and had a smile. He loved to joke around and have a good time. My prayers are with you and your family.

Patsy,
It's been a long time since we've seen each other but I still remember you and Larry as one of the 'perfect couples' in our Stonewall Jackson High School Class of 1967! I'll always think of him as he was in high school ... friendly, fun-loving, a wonderful personality, and flashing one of the prettiest smiles at everyone he met. When Larry smiled, his eyes 'twinkled' with mischief and everybody's day suddenly became a little brighter. Words cannot express my sorrow for you and your family at this most difficult hour but perhaps good memories of happy times will help lift your spirits and ease your pain. Thinking of you, Patsy, and remembering all of you in sympathy and prayer.
