CONSTANCE FULENWIDER Obituary

FULENWIDER--Constance Morrow,

died suddenly, of natural causes, at her home in Weston, Massachusetts on Friday, June 24. She was 73. Born in Carmel Valley, California, to Margot Loines Morrow and Dwight Morrow Jr., she grew up in New York City, where she attended the Brearley School before graduating from Concord Academy in Massachusetts in 1960. She proudly graduated Summa Cum Laude from Wellesley College as a Davis Scholar in 2006. A joyful connector of people, Constance was a vibrant member of the community in Weston, where she and her husband moved in 1972 and raised a family. She served on the board of the Boston Philharmonic and the Elisabeth Morrow School in Englewood, New Jersey, housed in her paternal grandparents' former home. A lifelong animal lover, she trained as an International Therapy Dog volunteer, and in 2013, she worked with survivors of the Boston Marathon Bombing. She is survived by her husband, Michael Fulenwider, her daughters, Anne Fulenwider and Wendy Fulenwider Liszt, two sons-in law, Bryan Blatstein and Jeffrey Liszt, four grandchildren, and her sister, Faith Williams, and her beloved black lab, Luna. A celebration of her life will be held at the First Parish Church in Weston on Thursday, July 14th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Therapy Dogs International.

I knew Connie when I volunteered for the 1965 John Lindsay campaign. We volunteered at the same neighborhood campaign headquarters in Queens. We also both worked at the NYC Department of Investigation in NYC after the campaign.

I will always remember Connie as a whirl wind of activity, tireless in her devotion to making the campaign a success. But more than that, she always had a smile on her face and always had a good word to say for all who worked with her. Her laugh was infectious.

When I went off to college in Boston, in the fall of 1965, she was kind enough to organize a surprise going away party for me. It was one of the highlights of my life. She was also instrumental in finding the money so that I could return to New York every week-end to continue working on the Lindsay campaign.

Connie was such a special person.

Connie was a force of nature; a kind and generous friend, a proud and loving mother and wife, and a reminder that life is not a rehearsal. An inspiration to all and one daunting debater, Connie could light up a room with her smile. Gone, but never forgotten, she'll be missed by so many people whose lives she touched.

With deep admiration and appreciation for Constance's smile, care, encouragement, and love for others.

For some strange reason I was flipping through the obituary page last weekend. I saw her beautiful face and immediately remembered a fellow Wellesley College student. I graduated from WC in 2005 at the age of 45 as a Davis Scholar. Constance was always smiling, she made me laugh and always had a positive attitude. I am deeply disappointed that I am away from the area on the 14th. I will always remember her with love and admiration. My heart is deeply saddened and I pray for you all. Dear Michael,

I was so sorry to read about the loss of Connie. Although I think I met her just one time, perhaps at a Yale or MIT event, she sounds like an incredible person who brought much joy and light to the world. I wish you much strength in this sad time, along with the ability to focus on the many happy memories. It would be great to reconnect and reminisce sometime.

All the best,
Tim

The world has lost a lovely and gracious spirit. We felt like old friends even though we met only recently. I think everyone felt that way about her. Diane Schmalensee
