Ruby Whiting Obituary

ANGELICA - Ruby V. Whiting, of Mechanic Street, died Tuesday (March 26, 2013) in her granddaughter's home in Rushville.
She was born March 8, 1915, in Johnson, Vt., a daughter of the late Winford and Mabel Ober Davis. She married Roland W. Whiting, who predeceased her in 1973.
Mrs. Whiting was a graduate of the Johnson High School class of 1931 and the Johnson Normal School class of 1933. Mr. and Mrs. Whiting owned a dairy farm from 1943 to 1960; in 1972 they moved to Angelica.
Ruby was a member of the Nazarene Church in Johnson, Vt., and attended the First Baptist Church in Angelica.
Ruby was a great quilt maker, and all of her grandchildren received a quilt that she made. She also was a great pie and dessert maker, and she made them for her many friends and neighbors.
Surviving are a son, Robert (Martha) Whiting of Fillmore; a daughter, Mary (Bruce) Jackson of Hendersonville, N.C.; a foster daughter, Lorraine Flood of Montpelier, Vt.; 13 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Anne M. Whiting, in 1993; a granddaughter, Laura J. Booth; a daughter-in-law, Joan M. Whiting, in 1988; a sister, Beth Adams; and a brother, Ken Davis.
Family and friends may gather from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday (March 30, 2013) at the First Baptist Church, 10 Park Circle, Angelica, where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Pastor David Ford will officiate. Burial will be in Until the Day Dawn Cemetery, Angelica.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee St., Fillmore.
