Robert H. Wayland

Robert Henry Wayland, 79, of Granbury, Texas, and Orange, Virginia, passed away peacefully at Martha Jefferson Hospital on Tuesday, February 28, 2012.

He was born on March 29, 1932, to the late Clarence O'Jennings Wayland and Henrietta White. Bob was a field engineer for Stone and Webster for 20 years and retired from the company and settled in Granbury Texas where he taught gun safety classes. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and gunsmith. He enjoyed gardening and weekly game nights with his pals in Granbury. He recently returned to Orange Virginia to be closer to his children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Walker Wayland and wife, Louise, George Wayland and wife, Kitty, Jack Wayland and wife, Daisy; two sisters, Mary W. Phillips and husband, Phil, and Agnes W. Fox and husband, Martin; nephew, Denny Wayland; and first wife Laura Gordon Wayland of Madison. He is survived by his wife, Katherine M. Wayland, children, Robert Anthony Wayland and wife, Debbie, of Pendleton, South Carolina, Debi Wayland Swim and husband, Shawn, of Fremont, Ohio, Sheila Wayland Miller and husband, Ernest, of Orange, Virginia, Karen Wayland McAuliffe and husband, Bobby, of Boston, Massachusetts, James O'Jennings Wayland and wife, Amy, of Stanardsville, Virginia; stepdaughters, Kimberly McKean of Oswego, New York, and Kathy McKean of Fort Worth, Texas; and a step son, Walton McKean and wife, Amy, of Oswego, New York. Additional survivors include his 15 grandchildren, four step grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family will hold a private memorial service.
