Family-Placed ObituaryEDWARD A. WEISMAN died in Palm Beach, Florida on August 15, 2011. He was 81 years old. Edward was born October 14, 1929 in New York City to Herman L. and Jeannette Weisman. Edward led an accomplished life following his passions. At an early age he discovered a love and talent for playing the piano. He studied piano at Julliard School of Music. He then attended Yale Graduate School of Music. As a young adult he studied with Arthur Rubenstein, considered to be one of the greatest classical pianists of the 20th century. In his 30s, Edward was a concert pianist, and concertized throughout Europe's major concert halls, where the King and Queen of Greece were among notable attendees. After his piano career, Edward became a leader in American industry. He earned his Industrial Engineering degree from Columbia University. Early in his career, Edward created the House of Good Taste exhibit in the 1964 Worlds' Fair. In 1974 Edward joined Allegheny Beverage Company, the 3rd largest bottling company in the nation. Edward led the rapid revenue and profit growth of Allegheny Beverage in the 1970s and 80s. When the Macke company was acquired, Edward became President of Macke. Edward spearheaded the company's growth both through acquisitions and organically. At the height of his career at Macke, Edward oversaw operations including over 40,000 employees, and diverse business ranging from industrial food service to retail furniture. In 1987, Edward retired to Palm Beach County. He then spent years with his beloved wife Marilyn traveling and sailing through the Chesapeake Bay and the East Coast. Those close to Edward knew the strongest passion in his life was the love he felt for his wife of 55 years, Marilyn, who died from Ovarian cancer in January of 2007. Edward shared many wonderful memories with his younger brothers, Robert Weisman and Matthew Weisman, who survive him. He was also a loving father to his daughter Cobey W. Rapaport and husband Robert D. Rapaport, and his son Norman Weisman and wife Cindy Weisman. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Jeffrey Rapaport, Tali Rapaport, Marielle Weisman and Nicole Weisman. Funeral services for Edward were held on August 17th, 2011, at the Star of David Funeral Chapel of the Palm Beaches.
