Dear Sue and Julian:
I was so saddened to read of Bill's death. He was a wonderful member, as were you Sue, at Avalon Baptist Church. I know you both will miss him greatly. I pray you will find comfort and peace through the goodness of God and all the wonderful memories he left. I remember a few nights of singing and playing guitars with Bob Drummond, Margie Drummond, Lindy as well as you Julian around a campfire in the yard. Those were the days, my friend! All my love.

A Florida treasure. As long as I practice law, Bill's larger carvings will remain the first things viewed when you enter my office. His canes and other smaller carvings, all gifts, are throughout the office. At my request Bill carved the mantel at the steak house in Milton-so all could enjoy his genius and love for sharing. You can also visit his gifts at the Smithsonian. A great friend with a great heart. Missed dearly-yet I will smile at you daily through your gifts.

Dear Sue, and Max,
Just now, 7-3-14, read of Bill's home going.
Farewell to a good man and beloved friend and teacher.
Thirteen sticks stand in my living room rack. Each brings up a great memory of time with Bill and others.

I regret to read of the earthly loss of Bill Cooey. Like many of his generation, he was a fine example of a good citizen and highly visible member of the Christian faith. I remember seeing Bill and his family at church services on Sundays in the late-1960s and once visited him and his family at his home in Pensacola when he and his son tried to get me to play a game of chess. I always enjoyed reading about his ham radio operations and abilities in engineering. He truly loved his wife and son.

So sorry to hear about the loss of Bill. I had the privilege of knowing him for the past forty years as a family friend. He was a wonderful man. Two of his carved hiking staffs that he created many years ago for my late father are among my prized possessions. He was such a talented artist. Bill will truly be missed!

Our deepest sympathy to Julian and his Mother on the passing of his Father. Julian and I grew up together and shared many good times. His parents were always very kind to the gaggle of kids hanging around. Mr Cooey was the first real ham radio expert I met and I remember being impressed by his patience with our many questions. We enjoyed chatting with him and Mrs Cooey while on their neighborhood walks.
