James Sanders Obituary

James E. Sanders NORFOLK - James E. "Sonny" Sanders of the 6800 block of Silverwood Court quietly passed away April 21, 2010. He was born Aug. 8, 1939 to the late Mattie and George Forrest Sr. James is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 37 years, Mable F. Sanders; six children, Deforrest W. Sanders, Denita C. Martin, Kristi C. Mitchell (Corey), June Hall, Gregory N. Moore (Portia) and Angela T. Williams (Dwayne); two sisters, Della Powell and Patricia Forrest; two brothers, Alphonso Forrest (Polly) and Larry Forrest (Patsy); 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Janice Hendricks; two special family friends, Trustee Cora Bridgers and Kenya Purington; goddaughter, Linda E. Joyner; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A homegoing service will be held at noon Monday in Second Calvary Baptist Church, 2940 Corprew Ave., Norfolk. Viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today in Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby Chapel. Condolences may be offered at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.
