Nathan Caroon Obituary

Nathan R. Caroon NORFOLK - Nathan "Russell" Caroon, loving husband, father and grandfather, died Dec. 11, 2010 at the age of 95. Mr. Caroon was born Jan. 4, 1915 in Jarvisburg, N.C. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1973 after 40 years as a marine engineer. He was a member of Park Place Baptist Church, the Naomi Masonic Lodge, Norfolk Scottish Rite and Khedive Shrine Temple. Mr. Caroon was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Gentry Flowers Caroon. Survivors include his two daughters, Patricia C. Wilson, and Janet Caroon Jasmin and her husband Jeff; a grandson, Andrew C. Wilson and his wife Vicki. He is also survived by his granddogs, Chole Wilson and Judge E. Fudge Jasmin. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk by the Rev. Terry Spencer. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Association, 7320 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
