Sarah Kellam Obituary


Sarah Hicks Kellam CHESAPEAKE - Sarah Hicks Kellam, also known as "Sister," was born in Portsmouth Nov. 18, 1934, to Estelle Joyner and Richard Hicks, passed away Sept. 11, 2008. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Pughsville. She is survived by one daughter, Darlene Kellam-Eley (Charles) of Norfolk; three sons, Columbus Kellam Jr. (Janice) of Norfolk, Marcel Mike Kellam (Brenda) and Carlton Kellam (Deborah), both of Chesapeake; one sister, Rosa Powell (Raymond) of Chesapeake; four brothers, Richard Hicks of Boston, Edward Hicks of Denver, Larry Hicks of North Carolina and Milton Hicks of Portsmouth; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be conducted by the Rev. O.L. Cromwell at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Trinity Baptist Church, Chesapeake. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Portsmouth. The remains will be ready for viewing Monday from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Homes, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge. The family will assemble at 10 a.m. at the residence for the processional. www.carlosahowardfuneralhomes.com.
