Mary Hoggard Obituary

Mary Helen Roane Hoggard
Norfolk - Mary Helen Henshaw Roane Hoggard, 98, departed this life peacefully at Ware Presbyterian Village in Oxford, PA on October 21, 2013. She was born in Stonefort, Pope County, IL on September 14, 1915, the daughter of Marion Bowmen & Lillian Lorena (Morse) Henshaw. She was the wife of Albion Boutwell Roane, Jr. & after his death, Clarence S. Hoggard. She was the sister of Patricia Henshaw Engles.
She personified Christian faith & love. Her family grieves her loss, comforted by our Lord's promise of Heaven rejoicing in a life well-lived. Her lifelong commitment to others was exemplified by a full career in nursing. This world has lost a treasure, while Heaven has claimed one.
She is survived by her son, Lester W. Roane (Carol) of Perryville, MD; two grandsons, Anthony B. Roane ( Wendy) of Pasadena, MD, and Paule J. Payne of Calvert, MD; three granddaughters, Nancy Celmins (Richard) of Philadelphia, PA, Thuy Schroeder (Paul) of Monkton, MD, and Lisa Beaver of Suffolk, VA; as well as numerous much- loved "adopted" children, grandchildren & dear friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 2, at 11 a.m. at Grace Reformed Episcopal Church, 560 Fountain Street, Havre de Grace, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Grace Church in her honor.
