Elma Lienen Obituary
MAPLETON - Elma E. Von Lienen, 92 years young, of rural Mapleton, IL, passed peacefully Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria, IL, surrounded by family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion E. Von Lienen; her parents, Halsey H. (Pa) and Juliaett (Ma) Smith Minor of Harrisburg, IL; her sister, Mae M. Sheppard and brother-in-law, Charles "Short" Sheppard, of Slidell, LA; and son-in-law, Gary Nash of Sullivan, IN.
Elma is survived by her daughter, Judy Carole Nash of Sullivan, IN; son, Dale (Sandy) of Mapleton, IL; and grandchildren, Tracy Wilson of Clinton, IN, Wendy (Dan) Wagner of Clinton, IN, Jason (Krystal) Jeffers of Sullivan, IN, Curtis (Katherine) Wardell of Shelley, ID, Jayme (Jim) Poirier of Bartonville, IL, and Emily (Chad) Cavanee of San Marcos, TX. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Lucy and Alice Wagner, Kyle Jeffers, Erica, Michael and Ashley Wardell, Haylie and Josh Poirier and Ella, Katie, Emily and Megan Cavanee.
Born October 23, 1923, Elma graduated Harrisburg High School in Harrisburg, IL, in 1940. She worked odd jobs, including one in Michigan with sister, Mae. On September 10, 1944, she married Marion E. Von Lienen, and after the births of her two children, moved to Bartonville, IL, where she worked for Oak Grove East Grade School from September of 1959, until retiring in June of 1988.
Elma Spent her retirement years on the things she loved most - family, friends, Glasford Senior Center, growing zinnias, fragrant mock orange and veggies. She loved playing Bingo, doing puzzles, teaching her granddaughters to make homemade noodles and simply living life.

Graveside service will be held at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg, IL, at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2016. Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Glasford Senior Center, Glasford, IL, 61533; or the Alzheimer's Association.
