Schafer,Lucille J.

Lucille Jane Schafer, age 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Neenah on Friday, May 9, 2014. She was born on December 6, 1922 in Appleton; daughter of the late Herman and Clara (Scharman) Schroeder. On July 3, 1947, she was united in marriage to Jack Schafer.

Lucille enjoyed traveling on bus tours with her nephew, Bobby, bowling, playing cribbage and sheephead; but most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends throughout the years.

She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Darla (Bruce) Rasmussen and two sons, Gary and Dan Schafer; grandchildren, Gretchen (Mitchell) Kinnard and Jason (Katie) Rasmussen; great granddaughter, Ella Kinnard; very special nephew, Robert (Myra) Schroeder and her loving companion and friend, her dachshund, Angel.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack and her brother, Ray Schroeder.

Private family services for Lucille will be held at a later date.

Lucille's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Veronica Solis-Rohr and her staff, LeAnn Tilden at Theda Clark, and the staff of ThedaCare at Home Hospice for their compassion and loving care. Also, a very special thanks to Dan for the sacrifices he made to be able to be her constant caregiver.

So very sorry for your loss. She was such a beautiful woman inside and out. I will always remember her and the talks that we had. She shall always be remembered and will be eternally in our hearts. She will always be in those quiet moments and those beautiful things around you. She will be sorely missed and definitely left a footprint in this life. For my Aunt Lucille, what a beautiful lady you were! Thank you so much for making your family in Nebraska feel so welcome each time we visited you and Uncle Jack i remember way back even when i was a kid how you were so kind, your whole family was always very kind to us all even though we all dont talk or see each other, my family in Wisconsin, you all are always in my thoughts, not only during these hard and sad times, but when i think of my Dad or Mom talks about old times. RIP Aunt Lucille, please tell all those waiting for you that i love them and miss them, and i will miss you, God Bless you Aunt Lucille!
