Smolinski, Lucille Mary (Jape)

Surrounded by her loved ones, Lucille went to be with her Lord, on September 16, 2014.

Lucille was born August 27, 1928, to Arthur and Lucille Jape. On August 1, 1953, she married James Smolinski.

She was the devoted mother of David (Ellen), Joan Reinke (Steve), Linda Rieckmann (Mark), Jim Jr., and Don (Susan Huang-Smolinski). Lucille was "Grandma Smo" to - David's children, Mark and Michael Smolinski, and Sarah Oehldrich(Robert); Joan's daughter, Annie Reinke; Linda's children, Laura Sprtel (Mark), Teresa and Gina Rieckmann; and Don's children Reed, Daryn, and Calyn Smolinski. She was Great-grandma to Madeline, Emily, and Alyssa Oehldrich. In addition, to the above family members, Lucille is survived by her sister, Mary Gyrion, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and also a sister and brother in law, Sue and Bob Sokel and their children, Cindy and Gary.

Lucille was a devoutly prayerful Catholic woman who seldom missed an opportunity to attend Mass. In addition, she enjoyed sewing, working crosswords, giving haircuts, and just being with her kids and grandkids.

Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. on Friday, September 19, at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 North Richmond Street, Appleton. A private family Mass will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff in the ICU at Theda Clark, especially Angie and Sarah.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Lucille's name. Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
