I think of Mr. O often. He was such a positive influence in my life. I was so happy to have spent a sunny afternoon with him before he passed. It was just me and him, drinking screwdrivers on his porch, and reminiscing.

Mr. O'Connor was a wonderful teacher and a very positive person. My mother Bettie Finkbohner worked at LaTercera for as many years as Mr. O taught... I can hear his voice and his laugh as I type this... He will be missed.

If you lived in Petaluma and went to LT you knew what Mr O was all about. Being in his class in 5th and 6th grade I have several great memories. What struck me then and now, is they don't make Americans like him anymore. I remember one of his lessons or principles: "If you are going to write on the bathroom wall at least have the guts to sign your name after it."

Mike was our neighbor and friend for years. Without him the whole neighborhood has changed. At least, it has changed for us. Michael was a big guy, but he was larger than himself, and his presence made life a little better for everyone around him. It made it better for Paula and I and I miss him.

I had Mr. O'Connor his first year at LT. I can still remember the fun we had at Camp Cazadero or so we thought. You see Mike came up with the fun of rolling a tire down the hill behind there cabins. That was fun but, once we let the tire go he said now go get it and bring it back up! Rest in Peace Mr.O'Connor.

My husband's sixth grade teacher. He and his fellow sixth grade teachers had a great and lasting impact on him for his future. He also attended his stepfather's funeral as well. My husband says "He was a man of great passion in whatever he did."

Rest in peace, Mike. You were and still are a positive influence to many people who have learned from you. It was certainly a pleasure to have you as a teacher.

RIP Mr. "O". Our sons were fortunate to have been a students @ LaTercera in the 70s. Our youngest was a camp counselor throughout high school and during his freshman year @ SSU. You and Mr. "B" were a positive influence on our boys. Our youngest has been a teacher @ Kenilworth for many years. Great teachers inspire greatness in their students. Count yourself among the great ones Mr. "O".

Mr O was the kind of educator that every teacher should strive to imitate. His legacy will live forever in the lives of the children who he influenced and encouraged to be their best self. Thank you Mr O'Connor, you will never be forgotten.
