Ada Chandler Obituary

Mrs. Ada Newsome Chandler, 85, 514 St. Matthews St., Petersburg, departed this life Monday morning, Aug. 30, in the Golden Living Convalescent Center, Petersburg.

She was a native of Prince George County and a former member of Providence Baptist Church, Prince George. She was the daughter of the late Lee and Lagulia Harrison Newsome, and was preceded in death by three brothers, Lonnie, Donald and Thomas Newsome, and two sisters, Virginia and Ruth Newsome.

Surviving are: her husband, Howard Chandler of Petersburg; a stepson, Howard Chandler Jr. (Yvette) of Connecticut; two sisters, (devoted) Mrs. Belle Harrell of Petersburg and Mrs. Maude Howard of Pennsylvania; a brother-in-law, William Chandler; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, from the Chapel of William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home. Interment will be in Mount Sinai Community Cemetery. Prince George. The Rev. William N. Bland Jr. will officiate. Family will receive friends from 5:45 to 6:45 Friday evening.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of William N. Bland and Son Funeral Home, Petersburg.
