Frankie Johnson Obituary

Mr. Frankie Lane Johnson was born on Oct. 20, 1950, in Prince George County to Mason Lee Johnson Sr. and the late Catherine A. Johnson. He departed this life the evening of Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010.

Frankie was educated in the Prince George County School System and later graduated from the Job Corps Program. There after he joined the Marine Corps. Mr. Johnson accepted Christ at an early age and joined Gravel Run Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Mason Jr. (Lump), Melvin (Rat) and Larry Johnson.

Frankie leaves to cherish his memories: his loving father, Mason L. Johnson,Sr.; three children, Frankie Wilkins of New Jersey, Kenitra Wilkins of Chester and Maleaka Green of Washington, D.C.; six sisters, Yolanda McLaughlin (Jerry) of Dinwiddie, Diane Jackson of Prince George, Sandra Johnson of Richmond, Elma Edwards of Chester, Elnora Myrick of Jonesboro, Ga., and Beverly Johnson of Douglasville, Ga.; five grandchildren, Latisha and Anthony Michaels, Ja'Wun, Tianna and Monte Wilkins; 10 aunts, Sarah Granderson (Sally), a devoted auntie, Rebecca Johnson of Prince George, Clarine and Bernice Johnson, both of Petersburg, Rachel (Virginia) Johnson of Richmond, Daisy Brown of DeWitt, Elsie May of Stony Creek, Lucille Beasley (Clarence) of Dinwiddie, Naomi Shines of San Francisco and Martha Brown of Baltimore; two uncles, Lawrence Brown of New York and James Johnson of Petersburg; a host of nieces, cousins other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at the Chapel of William N. Bland and Son Funeral Home, Petersburg, with the Rev. David Fleming Sr., pastor of Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Prince George, presiding. The eulogy will be delivered by Elder James Jones, associate minister of Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church, Petersburg. The interment will be in Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will assemble at the residence, 16902 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, one hour prior to the service.
