Gilmer Roach Obituary

Gilmer F. (Gil) Roach passed away due to complications following surgery on Nov. 7, 2010. Gil was born near Lewisburg W.Va., Jan. 13, 1933. He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Bill; and is survived by his daughter, Sharon Gregory of Manson, N.C.; and his son, Frank Robert (Bob), currently serving with the State Department. He is also survived by three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Gil retired from the Defense General Supply Center in 1989, after 30 years with the federal government. He then worked with the VA Dept. of State Police as one of the original motorist assistants. Gil dearly loved this work, as he enjoyed helping people. After 16 years, he retired from the state, then worked as a part-time shuttle driver for Avis-Budget Rental Car Services, a position he held until his death.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at 12 p.m. in the Chester chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral home. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will take place in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester.
