Robert Chadwick Holtzer, Sgt. U.S.M.C., Ret, passed away at Saint Mary's Hospital on March 23, 2011 surrounded by his family. Robert (Bob) was born in San Francisco, CA to parents Harold Emil Holtzer and Margaret Fuentes. He was second to the youngest child of seven children. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Bonnie, daughters; Linda Haggans, Cynthia Bittner, and Julie Williford, grandchildren; Jeremiah Williford, Austin Schuler, Sarah Bittner, Donald Bittner and Jillian Haggans, sister, Asalena Campana, and numerous nieces and nephews. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Daly City, CA, went on to Business College in San Francisco, became an accountant and realtor. He played semi-pro football, became a black belt in judo and coached PAL (Police Athletic League) Football for ten years. He started running with the Washoe Wacos and Silver State Striders here in Reno. He ran marathons in Hawaii, San Francisco and Washington D.C.

Bob was an active member of the Men of Chosin, Chosin Few, Marine Corp League, Purple Heart VFW and the Sierra Nevada Chapter #1 of Korean War Veterans. He was also co-founder of Battle Born Detachment Marine Corps, and the Purple Heart 719 1st Chapter of Reno. His proudest accomplishment was to create a memorial to honor the Americans Forgotten Korean Casualties in Section 'U' marked "Korean-Unknown at the National Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) in Honolulu.
