It is with sadness that I have learned of Betty's passing. My family has been friends with Betty and her family since the late 1940s. We children played together and often rode together on Sunday mornings to the old Boones Mill Baptist Church.
She and my Mom remained very close friends throughout the years, and I would often visit Betty whenever I returned to Roanoke in the summers or on holidays. We loved Betty, especially for her kindness and gentle spirit, and we pray and know that she will find eternal rest in the sweet arms of Jesus. Requiescat in pace.
