He is a life long member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where he served many years as a Deacon and numerous other committees. Lewis was a skilled master craftsman, carpenter and builder, who built many of the homes in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood. Lewis was beloved by all who knew him well. Lewis was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Edna Cregger Clark; and his parents, Daniel Jackson Clark and Lucy Blankenship Clark. Lewis is survived by his two daughters, Betty Jo Anthony and husband, Joe Anthony, of Roanoke, and Kathy D. Clark, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three grandchildren, Kathryn Anthony Brotherton and husband, Matt Brotherton, of Richmond, Jonathan M. Anthony and wife, Alexandra A. Anthony, of Roanoke, and Zachary L. Clark, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; four greatgrandchildren, Adeline Brotherton, Jackson Brotherton, William Brotherton and Devin Clark; his sister, Margaret Doss, of Texas; sisters-in-law, Susan Cregger and Gerri Cregger, both of Roanoke; and a number of well loved nieces, nephews and special friends. Our sincere sympathy in the passing of Lewis...Edna's Lewis. I worked with Edna at C.W. Francis in the sixties and came to know both to be true Christians and hard-working individuals. We know Lewis will be missed as we are sure Edna has been missed. Now they are together again in the presence of their Lord and Savior.

I shall greatly miss my dear neighbor of nearly 40 years. I have such fond memories of seeing him work in his yard, and in earlier years, in his garden. It was not unusual to see ears of corn and tomatoes and cucumbers on my stone wall, compliments of Lewis and Edna. From my seat in the choir loft, I also shall miss seeing him in his usual spot during church. I feel that the end of a era has come with his passing.
