Betty Harris Obituary

BETTY ANN HARRIS, 77 ROCKFORD - Betty Ann Harris, 77, of Rockford went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 2, 2011, at SwedishAmerican Hospital. Born April 24, 1934, in Metropolis to Paul and Frieda Riley. Married Robert F. Harris on Sept. 13, 1969, and lived in Rockford for 42 years Betty enjoyed gardening, sewing and participating in numerous bowling leagues. She was an avid Cubs fan, and was very sociable and well known by many at various grocery and department stores. Betty had a great sense of humor and a love for animals. Survived by her husband of 41 years, Robert "Bob"; sons, Michael Drennen of Rockford and Scott Harris of Prescott, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents. Memorial service for family and friends at 10 a.m. Monday, May 9, at Sunset Funeral Home, with a memorial gathering from 9 a.m. to time of service. I will always think of Betty as my second mom, I grew up down the street on Blair and I was always over at the house hanging with Scott and Mike and the animals. All the good times we all had, I will never forget. Love you Betty........

I lived in the same neighborhood as Betty and I really got to know her when I worked at Gray's she came in to play the lotto. I will remember her always and she will be missed by many, she was a wonderful woman! My heart goes out to her family. May she rest in peace.
