Lamar Reddick Obituary

Mr. Lamar O. Reddick - STATESBORO - Mr. Lamar O. Reddick, age 70, died Friday at his home. The Bulloch County native graduated from Portal High School in 1957 and was a 1960 graduate of Southern Polytechnic State University with a degree in Civil Engineering Technology . He worked as an engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation from 1960 until 1963. He was a registered Land Surveyor in both Georgia and South Carolina and had been the owner of Reddick & Associates Land Surveying and Land Development Firm from 1963 until 2002. He was elected Bulloch County Surveyor and served for 44 years. He was a member of the Surveying & Mapping Society of Georgia, and had served as president of that organization, was a member of the American Congress of Surveying and Mapping, the National Association of County Surveyors, and was a Founder and Board Member of First Southern National Bank. Mr. Reddick was also a member and past president of the Statesboro Rotary Club, Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Southern University Housing Board, Distinguished 1906 Society of Georgia Southern University, Campaign Chair of "Day for Southern", volunteer for Ogeechee Technical College, and was a recipient of The Deen Day Smith Service to Mankind Award. He was an Ogeechee Area Hospice Board member for six years, was on the Committee to restore the Bulloch County Courthouse, the Airport Committee, the City/County Recreation Master Plan committee, and was a Scout Master for Weblos Group. He was an active member of Pittman Park United Methodist Church serving in many capacities including Chairman of the Board and was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Lamar loved his God, his family, friends and his community. He was an avid reader, enjoyed playing golf, and was a loyal Georgia Southern University fan. Mr. Reddick was preceded in death by his parents, Garnett and Annie Laura Reddick, and a brother, Terrell Troy Reddick. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Glenda Brannen Reddick of Statesboro; four sons, Jeffrey Lamar Reddick and wife Melanie of Portal, Troy Olliff Reddick and wife Cindy of Vidalia, Dr. Mark Gibson Reddick and wife Nan of Cumming, and Michael Garnett Reddick and wife Caryn of San Jose, California; Grandchildren, Erin and Travis Shuman, Jared Jeff Reddick, Addison Garnett Reddick, Austin Lamar Reddick, and Colt Burt Reddick; great grandchildren, Gibson Travis Shuman and Raegan Ann Shuman; his brother, Dr. Lynn Reddick and wife Linda of Portal; a sister-in-law, Linda Hendrix Reddick of Statesboro; an aunt, Lorine Olliff Hendricks of Metter; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Reddick will be held Monday at 3:00 p.m. at Pittman Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Brown officiating, assisted by Rev. Tim Steffan and Rev. Joey Fennell. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Austin Lamar Reddick, John Dotson, Tom Lewis, Donald Nesmith, Jimmy Lanier, David Bobo, Lee Eckles, and Joey Maxwell. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's Tuesday Night Supper Club and members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class at Pittman Park United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Pittman Park United Methodist Church. Remembrances may be made to the Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. 531, Statesboro, GA 30459 or to the Terrell T. Reddick Rotary Honors Scholarship at Georgia Southern Foundation, P. O.
