Mrs. Flossie Stafford Washington - HILTON HEAD, SC - Mrs. Flossie Stafford Washington, 88 entered eternal rest on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Hilton Head Hospital after a short illness. She was a native of Hilton Head Island but spent most of her adult life on Daufuskie Island. She was employed with the Beaufort County School System in the janitorial department before retirement. She was a member of First Union African Baptist Church on Daufuskie Island. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jake Washington, Sr. A beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, she leaves to cherish her memories, seven daughters; Lula Mae Lawyer, Beulah Gadson (Clarence), both of Hilton Head, Rosa Chisolm of Savannah, Mary Washington, Edvina Washington, Margarite Washington, Julie Washington, all of Hilton Head; three sons; Jake Washington, Jr. (Jannie), Hilton Head; Sherman Washington (Mamie) of Savannah, and Ernest Washington (Rita) of Hilton Head, 24 grandchildren, 44 great- grandchildren, and 11 great-great-children, a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services: 1:00 pm Tuesday, August 5, 2014, First Union African Baptist Church, Daufuskie Island. Interment: Cooper River Cemetery.
