A member of First United Lutheran Church, Norm served as an usher for many years. He also was an avid photographer and collector, and a member of the Sheboygan stamp club. Norm loved brain-teasers and puzzles of all kinds and was a proud member of the MENSA high IQ society. A champion fastpitch softball pitcher in college and during his Army Air Force days, Norm also loved to play golf and fish. Norm followed the Brewers, Badgers, Packers and all the Wisconsin sports teams either on t.v. or by listening to his radio if at his cottage on Glen Lake, MI.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother Arthur C. Zierk, his wife Hilda Marie (Johnson) Zierk who died in Aug of 1998, his granddaughter Nicole Marie (Siefert) Welk, and his daughter-in-law Vera (Breitenfeldt) Zierk.

Family and friends are welcome to join us at First United Lutheran Church on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. for a Memorial service and fond remembrance of Norm. Rev. Todd W. Smith, Pastor, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

the Zierk's were my neighbors growing up in Sheboygan and we couldn't have asked for better neighbors and friends. I haven't seen them in almost 40 yrs. Julie's name actually popped into my head today for some reason and this led me to read about the passing of her dad. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

Grandpa, I feel honored that I was able to know you so well. I loved making you Gush Gosh, pancakes, popcorn, and salad (even though you were always skeptical of my healthy cooking). Your wit, dry humor, and genuine smile always made me laugh. I cherish wonderful memories! Thank you for being the BEST grandpa a granddaughter could ever ask for! "May your days be bright and sunny, and everyday a happy one!" See you later, alligator.

Mr. Zierk always made us feel welcome back when we were kids and Mia's house was one of our main hangouts. He was a funny, clever, friendly man with a kind word for everyone. My thoughts and prayers are with his large and loving family, who will miss him very much, I know.
