SOUTH BEND - Craig Alan Overmyer, age 65, residing in Mishawaka, Indiana passed away at 12:34 am Thursday, April 27, 2017 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. Craig retired from the South Bend Tribune. He was born on September 9, 1951 in Mishawaka, IN to the late Howard and Elaine (Weber) Overmyer, Sr. and remained a lifelong resident. On August 31, 1997, Craig was united in marriage to Sally M. Overmyer. She preceded in death on August 26, 2012.
Craig is survived by two daughters, Sara (Byron) Neiley of Lafayette and Jennifer (Wes) Calvin of Mishawaka; one son, Christopher (Corey) Overmyer of Granger; nine grandchildren, Xavion, Caitlyn, Christopher, Jr. and Brendon Overmyer, Alexis Cook, Camden and Savannah Neiley, Hannah Keip and Abigail Calvin; his stepmother, Beth Overmyer of Mishawaka; and three brothers, Howard Overmyer, Jr. and Kurt (Deanna) Overmyer both of Mishawaka and Clint (Kitty) Overmyer of South Bend.
Craig loved hot rods and sprint cars.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 pm until time of services at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Palmer Funeral Home to defray costs. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
