Kenneth Edward Gieselman of Culpeper, Virginia, died peacefully December 15, 2008 in the Hospice of the Pied-mont, 501 Park Street, Charlottesville, Virginia at the age of 88.

Kenneth was born January 31, 1920, in Burlington, Iowa, to Henry A. Gieselman and Sophia Neukum Gieselman. He served in the U.S. Army, four years in the European Theater; was Deputy Director for the Veteran's Admin-istration in cities in North America and briefly abroad; was a member of the Mid-Day Lions Club of Culpeper, member of the Kena Temple Shriners of Fairfax, Virginia; member of the Culpeper United Methodist Church and the VFW Post 2524 of Culpeper.

As a young man, Ken was an excellent tennis player. He was a pilot at age sixteen, and enjoyed flying for many years. In college, he appeared in various dramatic productions on stage. Ken's two fondest activities were traveling, which he and his wife, Eleanor did extensively and going out to eat with friends and family, which they did often. In years past, Mr. Gieselman was heavily involved in the local chapter of the American Heart Association, Chairman of the Culpeper County Republican Party and numerous other civic activities. Virtually everyone who knew Ken recognized he was an organ-izational genius. And he was. Ken Gieselman was a gentleman and a study in contrast. He will be fondly missed.

Surviving Kenneth are his wife, Eleanor Audrey Mills Gieselman, of Culpeper, Virginia; sons, J. Richard Gieselman and his wife, Christine, of NorthTopsail Beach, North Carolina and Gregory Mills Gieselman, of Houston, Texas and two grandsons, J. Ryan Gieselman and J. Scott Gieselman, of North Topsail Beach, North Carolina.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway,Culpeper, Virginia 22701. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 22, 2008 in the Clore-English Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bob Donnelly and Pastor Randy Orndorff conducting services. Burial will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 East Chandler Street, Culpeper, Virginia with full military honors provided by the VFW Post 2524 Honor Guard and the American Legion Post 330 Honor Guard, both of Culpeper.

Gentleman serving as active pallbearers are Mr. J. Ryan Gieselman, of North Topsail Beach, N.C., Mr. Philip Keyser, of Culpeper, Mr. Matthew Mills-Atkins, of Culpeper, Mr. Rodney Mills, of Culpeper, Mr. Neil Seek, of Culpeper and Mr. Terry Woodward, of Grottoes, Va.

Honorary pallbearers are Mr. J. Scott Gieselman, USN, of North Topsail Beach, N.C., Mr. Brian DiAntonio, of Fairfax, Mr. Dennis DiAntonio, of Fairfax, Mr. Philip Lee Keyser, of Culpeper, Mr. Delbert Lester, of Halifax, Va., Col. Jake A. Randolph, USA (Ret.), of Culpeper and Mr. Russ Thomas, of Burlington, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, contribut-ions may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, Virginia 22911 or to Willis Chapel United Methodist Church, 48 Homestead Knoll, Huntly, Virginia 22640.
