Alice Werner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 18, 2010.
Werner, Alice of Teton Village, Wyoming, died suddenly July 7, a month short of her 92nd birthday. She is survived by her husband, Frank and children, JoAnn (Peter) Blomberg of Minneapolis, MN; David (Mary Kay) Werner of Jackson, WY; and Robert (Patrice) Werner of St. Paul, MN; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She will be missed greatly. Alice was born August 28, 1918, the eldest of seven siblings to Albertine (Guilbault) and George Martel in St. Boniface, Manitoba. After completing school through the first year of college, she went to Washington D.C. to help with the war effort and worked as a translator in the Belgian Embassy. In Washington, she met Frank, and they were married on June 1, 1946. Soon after, they moved to Minneapolis, MN, where she raised her family. Because she loved the arts, especially dancing, she always volunteered to direct the musical productions at her children's school. In 1971, the family moved to Teton Village where she served as a volunteer for various organizations and was especially involved with helping the Grand Teton Music Festival. She was also an active member of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church. With her family, she loved to travel and visited every continent. Alice was always interested in social activities. When she wasn't planning a trip or volunteering her time, she loved golf, bridge, and reading, In later years, she became fond of the Tucson, AZ, area and built a house there, where she spent a few months during each winter. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, August 28, 10am at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Jackson.

Dear Bob and Family,
It has been many years since I last saw your mother, but my memory is that she was a true lady, devoted to her classical music, her travels, and most of all her family. My son Sean went to school with your nephew Paul through the 4th grade at Our Lady of Grace in Edina. That experience allowed me to also know your brother's family at a formative time in our sons' lives.

I will pray for her, your dad, and all of your family at this sad time.
