I miss him. His inquisitiveness, his conversation, his joyfulness and humor, speaking his poetry. I miss his presence.

Keith was a good friend when we were in college together at Macalester. I remember him as a lively laughing and kindly spirit. He enriched my life in the time we shared together and I have always been grateful. All of us who knew him are better for his presence in our lives.

Chris, Jon and Nate: One of my first "people" memories when we moved to Minneapolis in 1970 was of your dad. Such a kid-friendly guy with his hearty laugh and big smile. So sorry to hear that he's gone. My sincere condolences.

Sad to hear of Keith's passing. I have fond memories of the seminar I took with him on Nagel's "The View from Nowhere." His charm and humor were always appreciated around old Ford Hall.

Back in the 70's, Garrison Keillor used to read from Keith's 3142 Lyndale Ave. So. on his Morning Show.
I loved it, bought it for all my kids - still love it.
I am so sorry he's gone. What a loss.

So sorry to get this news. Keith was a lively colleague and friend. Best to his family.

My heart goes out to all of Keith's loved ones. Keith was instrumental in my life in my growing up years. He was a great teacher, and a great wit, great writer, but most of all, he had a heart of great depth. I send my love especially to Jonathan who introduced me to his Dad and Sandra when we were just young. Those years are most impressionable. My love to all Gunderson's and their kids, to Sandra and her family. My love to Donna too, who spent a good deal of her life with Keith and I'm sure feels the loss too. Love, Anne Zerby

Dear Christopher and Jonathan: It was wonderful to live so closely to your family (pre-Nate I'm sad to say.) One of the highlights was hanging out with your hilarious dad who was also deeply serious about political issues and other important matters. We all had been protesting Vietnam and I'll never forget the day I ran down to tell him President Johnson decided not to run for reelection. I think we danced in your living room!! He must have been very proud of each of you 3.

Keith meant a lot to me and our group from the neighborhood. We loved Keith's wit, his poetry, love of people and of friends. We will miss him greatly. I know he is sitting beside a large rabbit wearing a peculiar hat watching us all and smiling. All my love to you Keith, I will miss you! And all my sincere love and condolences to you Sandra.

A previous writer expressed what I feel about Keith, "He was a pixie, full of delight. . . " He was a loving and caring friend and will be remembered always.

I was a graduate student at the University of Minnesota in the 80s and had Keith as a professor. He was a pixie, full of the delight of playing with ideas. I was sorry to learn of his death and know the world will be a less charming place with his loss. My best wishes to his family and friends.

This crazy guy somehow saw value in my proposal to write a dissertation on the aesthetics of dressage. He agreed to take me on in his last year of teaching, even though he would be retired as I finished the project. I still remember the most powerful comment I ever got on a paper, which was a picture of a very confused looking guy with a question mark above his head. A picture's worth a thousand words. RIP, Keith.

Keith was a real teacher, mentor and friend. I'll always remember his wonderfully natural response when the boys visited his office, and his obvious delight in reading his poetry, especially the rhythm poems, aloud.

Keith was a wonderful neighbor and great friend over many years. He and Sandra were always a joy to be with even after we moved to Hudson Wisconsin. The proximity changed, but not the closeness of our friendship. He will be sorely missed by Julie and me and all those who knew him.

We shared lots of good times, even going back to our days at Lyndale Grade School. I think we were among the few from our neighborhood who went on to Jefferson and then, West High.
You had a good life and will be missed by many. Sincere sympathy to Sandra and the family.

Keith will surely be missed by his fellow classmates at West High.
I resently received his book "A Continual Interest in the Sun & Sea, Inland Missing the Sea. I plan to read it now when I get to Maui.
It will mean a lot more reading by the Sea.
Farewell Keith until we meet again.
