We are thinking of you on your heavenly birthday today & every day! Love and miss you always. You always had such a sweetness about you, and always knew how to stay positive. Grandma Carol is being reminded of that especially today! She was having such a stressful day with issues in her apartment building, but when we talked on the phone, all she could say was “This too shall pass, trying to have a good day since it’s Lisa’s birthday.” You sure left your mark and made an impact on all of us. I too often find myself on some of life’s hardest days thinking to myself “How would Lisa handle this?” I definitely don’t always handle things as well as you did, but it’s something I’m constantly thinking about and reminding myself to strive better for that same sweetness, joy & positivity you brought to every situation life handed you.
Love you always!
Love, Alyssa & Grandma Carol

One of my all time favorite childhood memories was going to the Renaissance Festival with my aunt Lisa She was the best EVER. She packed so much fun, adventure, and generosity into her life before she left us I strive to be at least a little more like her each day, especially when it comes to being an aunt! This past week, Brett and I were reminiscing on all our fun times with aunt Lisa at the Renaissance. So we decided to take Isabell & Jonah today in hopes to recreate the fun memories our dear aunt left us with! Hoping they had lots of fun and will remember this for years to come like Brett & I do! I’m so happy Jackie got to join us too!
My favorite memories as a kid at the Renaissance:
1. Making wax hands!
2. Getting the wooden swords & shields to play with!
3. Riding the elephants & camels!
Almost all of these favorite memories were recreated with my niece & nephew today
It was so meaningful to be back there 15ish years later and slowly start to remember more bits & pieces of when I was a kid there! Certain things we would walk by and I would have little flashbacks to memories with my aunt Lisa
For example - I always had a random memory of riding an elephant and a camel when my aunt Lisa took me somewhere, but I had NO idea it was at the Renaissance until we walked up to it today! It was so cool to be able to piece that memory back together! The best part about this specific memory, is I totally remember before we left, my Mom specifically told Lisa NOT to let me ride the elephants or camels because she didn’t want me to come home smelling like an animal, but of course Lisa let me do it anyways because she was always so much fun! Totally lived life to its fullest! And when I got home my mom definitely could tell I rode on the animals
As you can probably tell, my Aunt Lisa left quite the impact on my life. Here’s to hoping I can leave even a fraction of that type of impact on my niece & nephew’s lives

To Lisa and her family and friends...... Lisa was such a unique and beautiful girl back in Sandburg and Armstrong days and continued to be that same warm and beautiful person as an adult. No one had more charisma then you Lisa! Your Armstrong class of '76 will miss you as will anyone who knew you. Jeff Schuh, Plymouth MN.

Lisa,
'Lyssa had her first piano recital tonight & she did very well. We missed having you there. I know you would have been there for sure. Your Mom & Dad were there. Jim was there, Michelle, & of course Tina & Brett. Jim joked that he was going to get 'Lyssa's autograph now before she becomes famous. Haha! You would be proud of her. Because of you/Alyssa, I'm thinking about taking piano lessons too. I wrote a few songs in my younger days...well lyrics for songs & never knew how to play a "songwriting" instrument. It may help in writing if I ever get back into it.
Happy New Year a little early.

Lisa Pizza Pie,
Your support for Wayne, Mariah and I will be missed greatly. I will miss our brain storming times, decorating for parties, planning events, especially you helping with my wedding, and I helping with yours, sharing bible verses and Joyce Meyers readings. What I enjoyed most with you the last few years was counting our blessings, despite the modern world problems. The gifts from God, the beauty of nature, taking time to enjoy loved ones, children, and animals, stop and smell the flowers, the owl picture, finding joy in the moment. I will miss working hard beside you during moves, decorating, and under pressure. Your energy fueled me and others around you. Your beauty, grace, compassion, faith, gorgeous smile, and hardy laugh is among many things I will cherish. I learned so much from you. I am so glad I took the time to tell you with thank you with cards and flowers while you were still feeling good. Thank you God, for bringing Lisa into my life, my memories of her will be cherished always.
Jim,
Lisa loves you with all her heart. You met the love of your life and she met hers. Our memories of her and her love for everyone and everything is still around us. Take care of yourself...Remember you have family that really cares about you and we are praying for you.
Sincerely,
Michelle Petersen Westerlund

Jim,
I only met Lisa a few times through Tom and Ginger, but I have to say she has left an everlasting impression with me. Even though she was sick (which I didn't know the first time I met her) she always had such a bright beautiful smile on her face. She was very inspirational, but she will live on in with the many cherished memories her family and many friends have of her.

Not only is Lisa my sister, she was a best friend..... all of my life. 51 years! We shared our bedroom together all the years of our childhood in our family home. As I look back on her life, I can learn. Lisa did just as the apostle Paul quoted in Acts Chapter 20 verse 35 “that we must bear in mind the words of our Lord Jesus, when he himself said, “There is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving.’ ” Lisa truly was happy, as she was a giver, and we all could see that in her smile.
There were difficult times in my life when I would not have succeeded without her. When it came time to celebrate my son Benjamin’s graduation at the lakehouse, I was sick, and so she stepped up to the plate and was the organizer extraordinaire. She even liked helping me get the goats ready for show and showing them at the goat shows. She loved working at the farm with the horses and taking them horse camping, so that all of our friends who came, could enjoy the experience. When we were together we created energy, working in the gardens, flower arranging, cooking, and even if it would be rearranging furniture, either at her place or mine, we were always doing something constructive. I especially enjoyed when Lisa and I would fly out west to somewhere in the mountains and meet our other ski buddies from Florida, Auntie Sharon and Uncle Don. Lisa was my ski buddy and she was the only one who would keep up with me on the slopes. We were the same speed.
Yes, I am surely looking forward to seeing Lisa again.
We all can have faith that we will see Lisa again, just as the apostle Paul said in Acts chapter 24 verse 15 quote “ and I have hope toward God, which hope these men themselves also entertain, that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” We also have the promise and words from Jesus, when he said in John chapter 5 verse 28 and 29 quote” Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment. “
Jesus gave us hope through demonstration that he could resurrect the dead back to life on earth by resurrecting Lazarus and also when he gave his sermon on the mount and quoted from the Psalms chapter 37 verse 11 which quotes “But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.”

Her laughter and presence filled a room. She had such a zest for life, from her love of travel, to love of romance and companionship(Jim, family and a host of friends). Advice was there whether asked for or not but typically right on the mark.Mention a party and she was there with a plan and a hand. This is a poem Lisa gave me with a Christman exchange several years ago; Light candles, sing songs, tell ancient stories, name you hopes & longings. Dream outrageous dreams of peace, justice and joy. Find what is ready to be born in you. Make way for Angels to sing and for Christmas mystery to happen in your life.

Jim I am so sorry for your Lost Lisa was the best for you,I know I didn,t know her long but she was one of the best things that happen to you I remeber all those years since the working at the va and getting lucky working at excel energy and not finding your true love until you met Lisa. It change your whole world around and she will be missed alot and I am glad that I got to meet her and I was really glad you brought her to the Hosiptal when i was in there for my cancer she really inspired me to get out and try to beat mine. I wished she would of beaten hers until it was gone but it seems that women have bad luck with that type of cancer because in my treatments I seen so many with the same battle going on.. But I am glad to have known her for the short time. from. take Jim and we will see you soon Pal from Marvin , Vicki Schuster and Brian

Jim and Lisa's family-
My deepest sympathy to each of you. Lisa and i worked together. My most cherished memory of her was on a military charter flight in 2004. Our crew was deadheading to Prague on another airline. During boarding the plane I was standing behind Lisa waiting to get to our seats. While we were stopped in the aisle I overheard a female passenger compliment Lisa on her pretty, long, blond hair. Now, some gals would have responded "Thanks! i use a great conditioner.".....but oh no, NOT LISA! Lisa thanked her and said that the ends of her hair were curly due to being "chemo-hair" and it grew back that way after her treatment. The woman told with Lisa that SHE had just been diagnosed with cancer and was so afraid of losing her hair. Later on during the flight Lisa talked to her and offered support and encouragement. Had Lisa not shared her cancer experience so easily this brief interaction wouldn't have brought hope to a stranger. That's the kind of person Lisa was.....sharing joy....and hope.
Oh, she will be missed.
My deepest condolences,
Kelly Wright

Jim - its been many years since we've seen each other. So long, that we never had the pleasure of meeting Lisa, but we want you to know that we share in the sorrow of your tragic loss. Our closest friend lost his wife of over 30 years to this horrible disease 6 years ago and we still miss her terribly.
