Kara Meyer Obituary

Kara Casey Meyer Kara Casey Meyer, beloved by all who were fortunate to know her, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011 in Coppell, TX. Kara was born on Oct. 3, 1965, raised in Austin, TX, and graduated from Southwest Texas State in December 1987, with degrees in journalism and marketing. She moved to Dallas in 1988 to begin her career as an Account Executive with Stern Monroe, moving to Nouveau Eyewear in 1994 as Marketing Director, eventually becoming Vice President of Marketing during her 8 year tenure. In 2002, Kara joined REM Eyewear as Vice President of Corporate Accounts, being honored as one of Vision Monday's "Most Influential Women in Optical" in 2005. Kara married Jay Meyer on December 3, 1988, and in their 22 years of marriage, raising two wonderful children, Alexis and Christian, enjoying and appreciating every day spent together. Kara is survived by her husband and children, parents Mickey and Pat Casey of Frisco, brother Michael Casey of Frisco and his wife Sheri and their two sons, Garrett and Brennan, sister Kathleen Canales of Georgetown and her husband Chris and daughters Kristen, Kandace and Kate, parents-in-law Jim and Lori Meyer of Horseshoe Bay and sister-in-law Sharon Meyer of Houston. Kara also leaves behind many, many friends and extended family who will miss her dearly. She loved her work, joyfully gave time to her church - teaching and helping with youth programs, but traveling, sailing and spending time with her family were the things she enjoyed the most and held closest to her heart. Kara was a beautiful woman, with a spirit and soul to match. Her sense of humor and quick wit was always on display, as well as her strength, intelligence and gentle heart. Heaven's light just got brighter, while here on earth, ours' has dimmed. Kara's laughter, smile and joy for life will never be forgotten and everyone who knew her will feel her absence. There will be a visitation with family from 6:00-8:00 p.m., on Monday evening, Feb. 21, at Restland Coppell Chapel Memorial Center, 400 South Freeport Pkwy., Coppell, TX and a memorial service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 2 :00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in Coppell, 420 S. Pam and I will always have the thought of Kara with us. The cute, fun loving, wonderful girl we knew and "hung out with". It's been too long since we last had that opportunity and now she will always be with us as we knew her then......May god assist you as you go thru the grieving and loss of a wife, a mother, and a friend.

Dear Meyer Family, I am so sorry for your loss. I was a classmate of Kara's at PHS, and we were friends. She was always kind and smiling. One of my favorite high school memories is the play we did together called "Of Winners, Losers, and Games." She and I were the leads and we spent many hours rehearsing.
Your family is in my thoughts.

i heard today of the death of Kara Meyer. While I wasn't great friends with her, i often saw her at Pamela's Boutique when I used to work there. She was vibrant, always happy to see you, never forgot your name and held an amazing taste for outerwear. My thoughts and deepest sympothy goes out to her family, especially sweet Christian who was good friends with my son Noah.

Dear Kara's family,
I was a neighbor of Kara's family in River Oaks. Kara was a year older than me, and we were cheerleaders together at Pflugerville Middle School. Pflugerville was small back then and all of us who attended school there were very close. The kids that lived in RIver Oaks really seems like a family. My folks still live just one street away.
Everytime I drive by Kara's old house I remember the parties, and the cheerleader practices there. I often ran into Kara on the campus of SWTSU. I was also a journalism major. I remember Kara always had time for, and was always kind to me. She gave me her phone number at SWTSU and told me to call her if I ever needed anything. She had a great sense of humor and love for life. Everyone adored her!
I'm sorry for your loss,
Sincerely,
Debra Wolverton
