Both my sons and I remember Allen so well and fondly from the days of youth ice hockey at the Clayton Shaw Park rink in the late sixties and seventies when they played with his son Allen Jr. He was always full of energy supporting everyone. My sons, Stephen in Brooklyn, NY and Ethan in Phoenix and I extend our deepest sympathy to all the family. We will always remember his outgoing spirit and graciousness well.

My dear friend Jackie, Mrs. Palmquist and entire Palmquist clan,
My heart goes out to you all. I remember still meeting your father as he packed the wagon on our last day at MU (it was STUFFED), then again at weddings and baby showers. His charismatic and genuine demeanor - it drew people in. It was a gift to see you all together in MI this summer. I caught him beaming looking at all of you as he sat with your mom in the lounger. Lucky to have that time and such a great family. Keep each other well and be strong. Jackie - you take good care of yourself and your babies. Your dad was so proud of you all - you could see that.

My dear friend Jackie, and Mrs. Palmquist and entire Palmquist clan, my heart goes out to all of you. I remember still meeting your Dad at MU (packing the car STUFFED the last day freshman year) and then again years later at our graduation party for parents, weddings and baby showers. His charismatic and genuine demeanor - it drew people in. It was a gift to see you all together this summer in MI. I caught him beaming - looking at your group together on the beach as he sat with your mom in the lounger. Lucky guy to have such a great family. Take care of each other.

For all the family, I trust that happy memories of Allen's life will, in time, displace the pain of his passing.
Though I had last spoken with him a dozen or more years ago at an Easter Vigil Mass, he was hard to miss as he drove around town in the Avanti, and each holiday season I'd swing by to catch Claverach Park's version of the 'Winter Wonderland.'
No doubt all our contemporaries who went to Clayton schools, played Clayton hockey, or simply grew up in Clayton realize they owe a bit to Allen, and are feeling your loss at this time.
