Eleanor V. Lorenc

1922 - 2017

Eleanor "Ellie" Lorenc (Vogt), age 95, died on September 26, 2017 at her home in Fort Lauderdale, FL. It was 10 years short of her oft-stated goal to live until she was 105, but no one would argue that she left any of her other life goals unfulfilled. Born May 17, 1922, in Philadelphia, PA, Eleanor won the world Moth Boat Sailing Championship at the age of 14. She earned a degree in physical education from Temple University and married fellow Temple grad and All American soccer player, Edwin "Pete" Lorenc (d. 1998) in 1946. Together they founded and grew Breezy Point Day Camp in Langhorne, PA to be one of the largest and most successful summer day camps in the state. She was also a fulltime physical education teacher at Neshaminy High School in Langhorne, PA from 1961 until her retirement in 1984. Eleanor is survived by Fred Bohrman, her loving partner of 18 years and by her 3 daughters, Gale Wiik, of Upper Holland, PA, Janet Park of Hillsboro Beach, FL, and Barbara Lorenc of Amesbury, MA. She will be greatly missed by her 7 grandchildren, Brooks Park, Jill (Wiik) Kolakowski, Alan Park, Polly (Wiik) Tedesco, Benjamin Becker, Christina Becker, Anna Becker and 9 great grandchildren. To celebrate her remarkable life, a memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017 at 11:30 am at Church by the Sea, 2700 Mayan Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316.
