James Clinton Monteith, M.D. FACR Emeritis died at age 95 on the morning of December 9th, 2017 at 3:30 AM.

Dr. Monteith graduated The Lawrenceville School, a private college-prep school. He completed his undergraduate degree at Yale University, and then graduated the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He served his residency at New York's St. Luke's Hospital, Presbyterian Hospital and New York Cornell Medical Center.

During World War II, he served in the United States Navy from 1943-1945. Upon honorable discharge he was authorized to wear the American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal Honorable Service Button. From 1950-1952 he served as a Captain in the United States Air Force, achieving an honorable discharge and decorated with the Good Conduct Medal; World War II Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal.

Dr. Monteith practiced radiology at Westchester County Medical Center for fifteen years after which he relocated to Coral Gables, Florida where he practiced for eighteen years as the Chief of the Department of Radiation Oncology. He was a fellow of the American College of Radiology and a member of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiologists. He retired in 1988, and spent his remaining active years enjoying tennis and golf.

Dr. Monteith devoted himself to a life of demonstrating empathy for others as a dedicated physician, and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Anita Taylor Monteith; his daughter, Anita White Monteith; and his grandson, Quentin Monteith Dixon. We will all miss him, remember his wisdom and carry him in our hearts. He was our "anchor to windward."
