I served with Tom from 1975 until his retirement from the Navy. I was a young 2nd class petty officer and Senior Chief Quigley took me under his wing and had a great influence on my Navy career, and am sure he influenced many more. He will be missed. My prayers and condolences to his family.

When I became the Maintenance Officer in Fighter Squadron 201 at NAS Dallas, Tom was the Maintenance Quality Assurance Chief. It didn't take me long to realize that he was a straight from the hip, no nonsense Senior Chief who knew exactly what he was talking about. His nickname was "Spike". It didn't take me long to figure that one out either as Tom was not intimidated by anyone and flatly refused to compromise when he knew he was right ... which was most of the time. He could defuse pretty much anything with a few words and "that look" ... and the hesitation that came to others by knowing Tom played hockey ... and that he was probably right anyway. He brought a common sense presence and force to that job and to the entire department. I, and everyone who knew or worked with Tom, had the utmost admiration and respect for him. He will be missed. Please accept my most sincere condolences.
