Arthur "Po Po" Duggins

Arthur Troy Duggins went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 26th, 2012, while surrounded by his loving family. Once a long-time resident of Blythe as the owner of "Art's Barber Shop" on Main Street, Art, also known as "Doug", was 86 years-young and a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and friend. A World War II veteran who served in the Navy, Art met and married the love of his life, Frances Craig, in 1946. They were married 65 years and had three children; Cindy Shoemaker, Dee Dee Kalisvaart and Lance Duggins, all of Palm Springs, California. Doug was a loving grandfather affectionately known as "Po Po" to twelve grandchildren: Courtney Carrera, Branden Shoemaker, Brittany Shoemaker, Tyler and Bree Ontiveros, Kaitey, Kara, Kourtney & Cameron Kalisvaart, Jessica, Alyssa & Erica Duggins and two great grandchildren, Aidan & Ethan Carrera. "Doug" was born on February 10th, 1926, in Key West, Oklahoma, and moved to California at the age of six. His was a life of service to others. He was a 50+year member and Past Master of the Masonic Lodge No. 473 of Blythe, a Shriner, Past Worthy Patron of the Order of Eastern Star, Past President of the American Legion and a volunteer firefighter for the City of Blythe for 13½ years. After selling his barber shops, he then worked as a general carpenter for Kaiser Steel Corporation for 8 years in Eagle Mountain, California, before retiring at the age of 52. He and Frances then moved to Palm Springs where in addition to enjoying many outdoor activities, especially golf and camping out on the desert, he loved spending time with his family and friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday April 2nd, 2012, at 1:00pm at Desert Chapel Church, 630 S. Sunrise Way in Palm Springs, California. Interment at Riverside National Cemetery will be at a later time.
