James Gillham Obituary

James L. "Gilly" Gillham, 64, of Grand Island died Thursday, March 15, 2012, in Lincoln.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. Ellen Campbell will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.

A time to greet the family will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

As per Jim's wish, the family requests that everyone attending would wear casual attire.

Mr. Gillham was born Dec. 7, 1947, in St. Paul to Harold and Gladys (Jensen) Gillham.

Jim was raised in St. Paul and attended St. Paul Public Schools, where he graduated in 1966. He was united in marriage to Maxine Langrehr on April 22, 1967, in Worms. To this union two children, Sharon and Darrell were born. Jim worked and then became manager of the Scoular-Bishop Grain Elevator in St. Paul. After moving to Grand Island, he worked and managed Green Muffler and Exhaust. In 1977, he began driving for UPS in Grand Island. After 28 years of driving he retired in 2005. After his retirement, he continued to live in Grand Island.

Jim enjoyed fishing, woodworking and traveling, making a number of trips to Sturgis, S.D. He had a special love for auto racing, especially NASCAR and working on and fixing cars. Music was another love of Jim's with Bob Dylan being his favorite musician.

He was baptized in the First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul. He was a member of the Grand Island Saddle Club and the Teamster's Union.

Survivors include his children; a sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Richard Kosmicki of St. Paul; two nieces, Amy Brandt and her husband, Kevin and their children, Kailyn and Tyler of Onawa, Iowa and Carrie Kosmicki of Omaha and her fiance, Jeremy Braden of Onawa, Iowa; and numerous friends, especially those at UPS and at Sluggers Sports Bar.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Robert.
