MELSON, 64
WINTER HAVEN - Carlos L. Melson, 64, of Winter Haven went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Winter Haven Hospital due to heart failure.
Born August 3, 1946 in Decatur, Alabama he moved to Winter Haven over 40 years ago. He was a retired Crime Scene Detective for the Winter Haven Police Dept., retired from the Polk County Probation Office, and more recently, worked as a Private Investigator. He was also a member of the Baptist Temple of Dundee where he is a outreach minister and is a member of the Civil Air Patrol.
Carlos was preceded in death by: his father, R.L. Melson, his mother Bessie Jenkins Melson and 2 brothers, Kenneth and Hollis Melson.
He is survived by: his wife of 11 years, Faye; 2 sons, Ricky Melson and his wife Peggy of Louisiana and Daniel Pate and his wife Becky of Bartow; 2 daughters, Rhonda Cox and her husband Kevin of Lakeland and Gretchen Pate of Winter Haven; a brother, Bruce Melson of Jacksonville, FL; 2 sisters, Patricia Carnley of Alabama and Paulette Bomar and her husband Steve of Auburndale, FL; 6 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am till 11:00am, Monday, March 14, 2011 at Baptist Temple of Dundee. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Rolling Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the Baptist Temple of Dundee Building Fund, 206 Center Street, Dundee, FL 33838. Condolences may be sent at www.oakridgefuneralcare.com.

carlos is my dear and very sweet brother , i could always talk to him and he would always make me laugh , i am going to miss him so much i love him to very much . he will be miss , it is hard to not see him , or to hug him anymore, but one day we all can see him again if we live for the lord like he did. and he loved the lord every day. i will miss you dear brother . love you so.

My brother was the person I looked up to all my life. He was also the man I seen help anyone he could and never complained. Loved his family dearly. He was there for me in bad times and always there as a loving brother. I will miss him greatly. I love you Brother.

Carlos was always a blessing to me, always had a warm smile and blessed many with his songs.....Praying for you Faye and family! He always made it a point to shake hands with my boys, and they were very sad to hear of his passing. They also said that he must be happy in heaven...hugs from Mako Uriah and Mayan!
