I just learned of Herb's passing. I hadn't seen him since the '77 baseball season. Herb had a maturity beyond his years concerning what was important in life and what wasn't. My father was a hard man to get along with. Herb charmed him. Trust me, that wasn't an easy thing to do. Herb left an impression on me that lasts to this day nearly 40 years after I first met him and 36 years since we last spoke. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

I know this is a very late entry, but only today at a family gathering I learned about Herbie's home-going. The Odom family etched a special place in my heart many years ago as a young wife and mother, going to Pavers to drop by, or to the lovely Christmas dinners that would be hosted for the employees. I ran into Herbie a few times over the years, and he always left me laughing. Ironically, even as I type with sadness in my heart, I have a smile on my face.
Blessings and prayers to all of you. It's been a long time, but you'll always be special to me.

Herbie, a man with a smile always. You've left us all great memories to smile about. It seems like yesterday, Lana & I taking you morning coffee & donuts at 5am on the side of the road, a day at the track, sharing stories over wings & beer and so many others.
To the Odom Family, may you find comfort & peace in time with your memories and may they bring with them a smile!
In loving memory of a wonderful man. We will love you and miss you always!

So sorry to hear about Herb. We were both starting pitchers and so we got to spend a lot of downtime in the dugout and bull pen during games we didn't start. He kept us all laughing. Hell, I started laughing when I saw his smile. I'll miss him.

Dear Odom Family:
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. So many memories of our childhood go through my mind as I think of Herbie as a little boy among all his sisters and all the times our families shared meals and good times together.
I pray you find peace in the days ahead as you too recall times of laughter and the life you shared.
With Love,

Dear Mrs. Odom and Family,
Please accept my condolences in the passing of "Herbie". Even though many years have passed since the days of Interlachen Parkway, the "Partin" family will always remember and cherish our "friendship" with the "Odom" family.
Many times over the years I have shared the story of Herbie and my brother David burying my dads fishing tackle all over our backyard, and the "excitement" it brought when dad came home from work when they told him there was buried "treasure" and asked him to find it. Dad eventually got over it and could laugh about it in time.
Each of you can rejoice in the fact that Herbie is in Heaven with his Lord "Jesus Christ" free of pain and truly whole. I can only imagine the fun time he is having, seeing once again his dad and the ones who have gone before him. God Bless each of you.
Sincerely,
Julie "Partin" Sannicandro
