Myrtle IVERSON Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Dec. 10 to Dec. 11, 2011.
IVERSON, Myrtle Olive (Fyhn) Passed away December 2, 2011, in Coquitlam, BC, at age 90. Predeceased by her loving husband Norris, grandson Scott Iverson and brother Magnus. Lovingly survived by her son Ron (Marj), daughter Eleatha (Chris) Reniers, grandson Jeff Iverson, Brother Alvin, Sister Gladys (John) Birchall and sister-in-law Eva and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mom grew up in Naicum, Saskatchewan and became a nurse. After the war she took up farming in Lajord, Saskatchewan with the love of her life. She was very active in the community, treasurer for Lajord Union Church for many years, a very good cook and seamstress, using her talents to help others in craft fairs and bake sales. Moved to Coquitlam in 1987 and soon became active in the Eagle Ridge Hospital Auxiliary becoming a life member as well being an active member of the Glen Pine Pavilion. Myrtle loved to socialize and would often host gatherings at home. We celebrate her as a caring person with a generous spirit who had a smile for everyone, even facing illness with grace. A special thank you to Dr. G. Wong and Burquitlam Lions Care Centre for their loving care in her last months. A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Eagle Ridge Hospital or the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Memory of Myrtle. Myrtle was such an incredible lady, a delightful neighbour and had such a generous nature. She will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her! She was NEVER too busy to offer a comforting word, a helping hand, or an AMAZING story - her sense of humour is unmatched! Rest in peace my friend. My thoughts and prayers are with Eleatha, Chris and the rest of the family.

Myrtle was a joy to know as a neighbour, fellow auxilian, friend and mentor to both myself and my daughter Bobbi. In the many years I knew Myrtle, I never heard her speak unkindly of anyone. She lived her life with grace and compassion and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to share a small part of her life. My condolences to Myrtle's family on your loss.
