Gisela Schlueter Terrell, age 70 of Story, passed away at her cabin on June 8th, 2013. Gisela was born October 22nd, 1942 in Ploen, Germany to Gustav and Charlotte Klemm Schlueter. Gisela obtained a graduate degree in music education from Teachers College of Flensburg and a degree in Political Economy from Berlin Free University. She taught music and history while in Germany.
After coming to the United States, Gisela attended Indiana University in Bloomington and received a Master's degree in political science. She worked at Butler University library restoring rare books. She married Clyde Terrell on May 28th, 1983. They moved to Story, WY in 1993 where they built their unique cabin and beautiful vegetable gardens. Clyde passed away September 5th, 2005.
Gisela was a professional Violist and played in the Wyoming Symphony, Powder River Symphony, Cloud Peak Symphony, Black Hills Symphony, Miles City Orchestra and The Buffalo Chamber Ensemble, which she founded. She taught music at Story Elementary School, gave private music lessons in her home, and played weddings and other events with her good friend Janette Leno Thomas.
Gisela was preceded in death by her husband Clyde and her parents. She is survived by a sister Oehlgard Schlueter of Pinneberg, Germany; two brothers Detlef Schlueter of Schaalby, Germany and Heinz (Hannelore) Schlueter of Stuttgart, Germany; and nieces Esther (Sonke) Drewsen and Birgit Schlueter of Germany; Stepchildren: Sally (Jerry) Bush, Doug (Candice) Terrell, Dennis (Kris) Terrell, Duane (Patti) Terrell, Shary (Donnie) Myers; Fourteen Grandchildren and numerous Great Grandchildren; her many friends and her beloved dog Mya.
Gisela was a true humanitarian known for her acts of kindness not only in the Story community but everywhere she went and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service for Gisela is planned for June 29th at The Story Women's Club at 12:00 pm. followed by a luncheon.
