Uarda Verle Caston

Uarda Caston passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the age of 83 in Fortuna, California on June 29, 2010. She was born May 14, 1927 in Eureka, California to Eldridge and Thelma Chism. Uarda graduated from Fortuna High School with the class of 1945. She worked for the old Loleta Creamery for several years, but she was always a homemaker. She loved her family and enjoyed to bake desserts. She was especially known for her pies. Uarda would never forget a birthday or an anniversary and was known by the grandchildren as the "Funny Grandma". She loved to collect crystal and china and had quite the collection until the 1992 earthquake knocked over her china cabinet. Since then she has never had the heart to start her collection over again. Uarda is survived by her husband of 64 years, Marvin Caston; her daughter Marcia Tritten and her husband Bob; her son Gary Caston and his girlfriend Sara Schultz; and her 3 grandchildren Brett Tritten and his wife Katrina, Renee Caston and Matt Caston. She is preceded in death by her parents Eldridge and Thelma (Gates) Chism; her son Marvin Caston Jr passed away in 1967. The family would like to give thanks to Dr. Olkin & Jones and to Mary for all the years of care that they have given. They would also like to thank St Luke and Staff for their care and kindness. Private graveside services will be held at Ocean View Cemetery. The family asks that those who wish to make donations in Uarda's name do so to the American Heart Association, P.O.
