To the Easterling Family, I, first of all, want to express my condolences for your loss. Ms. Easterling was a special lady! Not only was I a Bon Air "neighbor", but also a student of Ms. Easterlings. Even as young as I was, I remember her enthusiasm and caring ways. She was a contemporary of my mother, Virginia Goggin, and they both loved teaching and left a wonderful impression on those whose lives she touched.
I am so glad that she lived a long life and am certain that she will be missed.
You all have my prayers for peace and healing.

Mrs. E was a one-of-a-kind. I will long remember her hillbilly-wise spunk and sense of humor. I am very glad I got to know her through my sister Anne and her husband Richard. I am also glad she was able to live out her last days in my mother's home. John Kincheloe

It sounds as though Vivian touched many lives in her teaching career. What a gift to many! I remember her as a really nice person when spending time with her son Richard during his high school years. She had her hands full with those boys... my thoughts are with the family.

Just last week the subject of grade school teachers came up, in conversation, and as always for me, that meant Mrs. Easterling! I had the honor of being in her 7th grade class in 62-63, and have never forgotten her or that year! Forest View, like most Chesterfield schools at the time, was bursting at the seams with students, but the area was in the middle of being annexed by Richmond, and the School Board was loathe to even place trailers on the property. The result was that Mrs. Easterling was almost back in a one-room school house again; our classroom that year was the stage in the auditorium! Quite an experience!

I was rather precocious, especially in math, and the year before it came to light that over the Christmas holiday I had finished the math assignments for the year. The 6th grade teacher (and I have no idea of her name) insisted that I re-do them all, in order to "stay with the rest of class." Knowing this, Mrs. Easterling, rather than insisting I do the same the following year, always made sure that I had more challenging work than that offered by the textbook, and I've always remembered that!

May she rest in peace and may her friends and family know what a difference she made in so many children's lives!
