Alpha Lee Fess

FESS, Alpha Lee, 85, of Sandston, went to be with her heavenly family on January 6, 2010. Alpha was happiest tending to her garden and caring for a house full of plants and flowers. She was a proud member of the Silver Sneakers program at Sandston YMCA. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Harold Keister and William Fess; and son, Stephen Keister. She is survived by her children, Marlene Short, John Keister, Annie Fess Taylor, and David Fess; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, Va. 22312, or "ASK," the Association for the Support of Children with Cancer, P.O. Box 17184, Richmond, Virginia 23226.
