HILBERT, Annabelle K., 91, died peacefully at her home in Gulfport on the morning of November 15, 2009. Mrs. Hilbert was born May 1, 1918 in Philadelphia, Pa. She graduated from Temple University in 1939. After teaching high school for three years, she married Clay Hilbert. They lived in suburban Philadelphia until 1955. For the next 18 years they moved numerous times until settling on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1973. Everywhere they lived, Annabelle was very active in the community. She loved her life as a wife and mother. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Hilbert was preceded in death by her husband, M.C. (Clay) Hilbert; parents, Theodore and Annabelle Knapp; grandson, Kevin Smith; and granddaughter, Tracey Eaker. She is survived by her son, C. Lee Hilbert and wife, Richie, of Richmond, Va.; her daughter, Barbara Brewer and husband, Bob of Biloxi, Miss.; three grandchildren, Emily Dubose of Richmond, Clay Hilbert of Richmond, And Heather Eaker of Biloxi, Miss. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Ruth Nicholson of Sarasota, Fla.; and her nephew, Geoff Nicholson. The memorial service will he held Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Gulfport, Miss. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time. Memorial donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, MS Chapter, 1907 Dunbarton Drive, Ste. C, Jackson, Miss. 39216. Barbara, I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I know the pain can be unbearable. Let her memories fill the void and her love carry on with you. Even in the quiet moments, just know that God is with you. You can carry on the legacy of her through your children and grandchildren.

I enjoyed my friendship with Annabelle through our golfing years at Broadwater Country Club. She was always cheerfully ready to help in our many activities. My sympathy to her family.
