James was instrumental in implementing Title IX for Berks County Sports, which allowed for girls to participate in sports and was Past President of the Berks County Athletic Association.

In honor of his final wishes, James has donated his body to medical science and there will be no formal services. Any future services will be announced by his family.

James T. DiGiacomo, 96, of Columbia passed away on November 18, 2025. He was born in Lancaster to the late Pio and Domenica Cozzi DiGiacomo.

James was a graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School and was inducted in their Hall of Fame. He proudly Served in the United States Army receiving the rank of Sargeant during the Korean War. Following his service, he received his master's degree in education from Temple University. James became the principal of Mount Penn High School in 1966 and served until 1978. He then became the superintendent for the Brandywine Heights School District until his retirement in 1986.

James was instrumental in implementing Title IX for Berks County Sports, which allowed for girls to participate in sports and was Past President of the Berks County Athletic Association. He was a faithful member of Pennside Presbyterian Church.

James leaves behind two children, Tom, husband of Glenna DiGiacomo of Fanwood, NJ, Mindy, wife of Michael Hennessey of Matthews, NC; six grandchildren, Jessica, Rebecca, Emily, Adam, Caitlin, and Harry; one great-grandchild, Wyatt; numerous nieces and nephews and a large extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Nancy who preceded him one month prior; his son, Stephen J. DiGiacomo; three siblings, Frank, Mary, and Virginia.

In honor of his final wishes, James has donated his body to medical science and there will be no formal services. Any future services will be announced by his family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Pennside Presbyterian Church, 253 N. 25th St., Reading, PA 19606.
