One year. Sometimes it seems like yesterday and other times like forever. I miss my prince, Lord Byron, lord of my heart, so very much and my love for him will be there...Always...Karen

I never got to meet you in person, but I already know and love you. Your family sings your praises and Jason has told me all about you. I even got to share a song with you at the Floyd Fest :) It would have been nice to maybe call you Dad someday. What a wonderful man; I'm grateful that I got to meet you even after your time here.

Hi Dad. It's been an interesting year. It seems like everyone is OK. Maryland is 8-4 and headed to a bowl game. Friedgen got coach of the year and the new QB, O'Brien, got rookie of the year. Denny had a chance to win the cup going into the last race, but Jimmy won his 5th. Washington isn't doing much, but Chicago is in the lead. I'm enjoying my time in Mexico. I'm really glad that I signed up for the Peace Corps. I miss everyone, but this is where I'm supposed to be :). I feel like I've been on a long journey and I finally made it home. Tonight I'll meditate on compassion for you in your new life. I know that with the karma you carried forward, it is already wonderful. It will be nice to run into you again. Love always, Jason.

To the Walters family, i have been thinking of you and wondering how you are doing. My son Todd has now moved into a group home and loves being with the four other guys since he was with me for 34 years. I know Byron would be so happy for him and the wonderful man he has become, so much more independent and more mature. He tooked Byron's picture with him and i know he still misses him whenever he looks at it. I pray that you will have much love and peace sent from above from Byron as this man truly loved his family. And, thank you dear Lord for letting him come into Todd's life. He made quite a statement and will never be forgotten. Jeanne Zirkel.

Dear Karen and family, I have just become aware of Buck's passing. I dreamed about my old EADC friends last night and I googled his name this morning thinking to get in touch and I found his obituary. I am so sad and so sorry for your loss. Buck hired me at EADC for my first real job out of college. We worked on the "A-76" project together. He gave me responsibiltiy right from the start and instilled confidence that has sustained me these 20 years since. We lost touch after I left the IRS, but I never forgot his smile, his jokes and the way he made everyone feel so important and at ease with him. He always talked about his family, he loved you all very much. You are certainly in my prayers. Emily Howell Braughton

Dad, I miss you very much and I have had a pretty rough last 2 months here. I am hanging in there and feel you with me through the hard times. We are plugging through but its still hard without you. I miss talking to you and hear you telling me that you love me. I never minded it, even when I was to cool for that mushy stuff. I love you very much Dad and have you in my heart at all times. Your Son, Byron

January 3, 2010

Well, it's been a month now dad. Everybody is holding up OK, but you definitely took a piece of all of our hearts with you. Things never seem to happen the way you expect. It has meant so much to me to have you in my life. Thank you for being my teacher and my student, my father and my brother, and my best friend and biggest fan. You were, are, and always will be the wind beneath my wings and I can't help but soar. Love you forever, Jasy-boy.

I am very sorry to hear of your loss. I met Buck while working at EADC and we have remained friends. Buck always had a smile and a kind word. I will miss those phone calls which were seemingly out of the blue. He would just call to chat and see how things were going. We enjoyed having Buck and Karen join our little get togethers after EADC closed. Buck will always be remembered as a kind and generous person who loved Karen, his kids and those grandkids. My deepest condolences to the family.

Byron was my mentor and friend. He was my stand in father. He always had time for listening and giving me needed advise, telling dirty jokes to make me laugh when it was needed and a stern word to set me in the right direction. Going to the Y.M.C.A and then to Bills for BBQ and limeade. I will deeply miss him. It was my pleasure to have worked with him at H.A.C and be his friend. I will hold you and your family in my heart. Byron I Love Youand will miss you. Love your friend

December 7, 2009

This man was very, very special - and touched my family's lives in so many memorable ways. His smile and laughter were infectious and contagious. He had a heart of gold and was so in love with Karen and those close to him. We were blessed to first get to know him in 1986, and it broke our hearts to have him leave central Illinois and return to Virginia a few years later. We kept in touch and the blessings continued in getting to meet his wife, Karen. Truly, a special couple with special gifts for us all. May the Peace of Christ envelope our friend, "Bonzaii Buck", for all eternity.....and may our Lord comfort Karen and the entire Walters family during this difficult time of loss.

Love and Prayers,
Karen, Steve, Wil, Nik & "Catfish" Lyons
